Up-and-coming Parkdale is attractive for its proximity to downtown, and its unique and vibrant feel. Here, folks can dine “A to Z,” Caribbean or Ethiopian or Indian or Thai, all within a few blocks. Architecture from the late 1800s also counts the neighbourhood among the city’s cherished historical destinations, as supported by the dozen or so antique stores at Roncesvalles and Queen. No wonder it’s been a long-standing haven for artists, who are intrigued by the rich diversity, and who have contributed greatly to keeping it active and strong. With Parkdale’s transformation fully underway, it’s a good—even affordable—time to lay down some roots.
