North Toronto is a narrow strip, centred on Yonge Street, comprising the adjoining communities of Bedford Park, Wanless Park and Allenby. Throughout the area comes a mix of housing—original farmhouses (constructed between 1890 and 1940), newer mid-sized detached and semi-detached homes, and remodelled homes. High-rise condominiums are ample, but then so is green space. For one, Wanless Park offers nothing short of “summer camp for adults,” with its summery open fields, its winter skating rink, and even a year-round clubhouse, featuring numerous tennis courts. Those other famous pastimes of dining and shopping can be enjoyed along the Yonge, Mount Pleasant, Bayview and Eglinton strips. With a central location, and proximity to Lawrence subway station and the 401, it’s no wonder this affluent neighbourhood is so popular with young families and professionals.
