Nestled between Long Branch to the west and Mimico to the east, New Toronto is a neighbourhood steeped in history and characterized by good fortune. With the First World War came the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, along with jobs and prosperity. Today, New Toronto hangs on the commercial intersection of Islington and Lake Shore, an area that is fed by north–south residential streets running from scenic Lake Ontario shores. And, with the TTC’s 501 car providing a reliable conduit along Lake Shore Boulevard to the downtown core, the community’s popularity is re-ignited. It may be a neighbourhood in transition, but those are often the best to invest in.
